There's only so much anyone can take, for Nelly Karim, it was 11 years to be exact.
Famous for her "miserable" roles in TV and cinema, the Egyptian actress admitted that it was her husband of 11 years, doctor Hani Abou Al Naja, who "inspired" her to perform with transparency and genuinity for her audience, thanks to the constant petulance she had to endure from him while they were married.
Nelly said in a recent interview that during her marriage, her ex-husband gave her "continuous doses of petulance that were apparent in the roles she played," adding that her life was "uneasy" with him.
However, that didn't put the award-winning actress down. On the contrary, she thanked her ex for the "concentrated doses of petulance he gave her" because they are what put her on top.
But why make something so obviously depressing last for so long - they separated in November!
"I was waiting for something to change. I gave him a huge chance for the sake of our daughters, Thank God I had my own career and was able to stand on my own two feet; I ask for nothing more than that," Nelly said.
Nelly was recently awarded the best actress award for her work in the film "El Feel El Azrak" (The Blue Elephant) during Egypt’s National Film Festival.
