Syrian contestant Nassif Zaytoun has won the title of the popular show Star Academy in its seventh round. Along with the title, Nassif won a monetary prize of fifty thousand US dollars and a new car. Nassif had gained 65.21 percent of viewers’ votes defeating Iraqi contestant Rahma as Sibahi and Jordanian contestant Mohammad Ramadan.

The grand finale for the show was a unique one with the participation of all former contestants, who sang an operetta, an addition to the participation of Lebanese star Elissa. Head of the program Rula Saed announced that the show will continue next year for its eight round and the ongoing success is due to the devotion of the fans from all over the Arab world.

Nassif’s victory was mainly due to his strong voice and his ability to perform songs for some of the most prominent Arab singers in such an exquisite manner. Nassif is also considered to be the first Syrian contestant to ever make it to the finale since the show was first launched in 2003.
