Naomi Campbell, supermodel, executive producer of the reality tv modelling competition The Face, and anger management poster girl, is coming to Dubai, so you better be prepared!
The famously short-fused, straight talking supermodel is joining a high profile jury of fashion heavyweights to judge the Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience (VFDE), a talent scouting event open to designers in the Middle East, Asia and Africa.
Among those joining Naomi on the committee are sky-high-heels shoe designer Christian Louboutin, Burberry's Christopher Bailey, designer Silvia Venturini Fendi and the Franca Sozzani, the editor-in-chief of Vogue Italia.
“Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience has achieved impressive stature globally in just two years. Today, it is much awaited by the international fashion circuit not only because of Dubai’s status as the new fashion capital but also to support and encourage next generation of fashion talent,” Sozzani told Gulf News.
Dubbed ‘Who Is On Next Dubai’, the panel will be judging womenswear, menswear and accessories. Winners will have a chance to travel to Italy and take part in fashion showcases, and receive temporary retail space in The Dubai Mall.
VFDE is supported by the Dubai Design and Fashion Council (DDFC) and organised by Vogue Italia and Emaar Properties.
DDFC CEO Gebreel told Gulf News: “The event complements the ongoing efforts of the Dubai Design & Fashion Council to set clear industry standards in the fashion industry and to enhance Dubai’s design scene more generally by continuing to elevate the city’s status as a leading global fashion destination.”
This year’s event will be on October 29 and 30 at The Dubai Mall.
