Arab Idol star and UNRWA Regional Youth Ambassador Mohammed Assaf was once again fighting the good fight for the people of Gaza.
The international singer flew out to his hometown on Sunday to fulfill another one of his duties as a UN Ambassador. This time, he participated in the United Nations Mine Action Service's (UNMAS) Wednesday event, which was a ceremony celebrating the International Day of Mine Awareness & Assistance in Mine Action.
Assaf was at hand to campaign for this worthy cause, which hoped for a more peaceful and land mine-free Gaza. Despite his superstar status, this young chap has certainly not forgotten about his roots, or his people.
To mark the occasion, the singer delivered an emotional speech on the dangers of land mines and later rocked the stage with a performance of his best hits. An excited crowd cheered Assaf on as he sang to a large audience, including those who were left disabled by the Gaza-Israel war.
During his charitable trip, the 25-year-old star also visited the UNDP offices and met with staff & their families.
But before his trip to Palestine, Assaf was busy recording the opening theme tune of a new TV series titled "Sadeeqaati Al Azeezat" (My Dear Friends).
This is Assaf's first ever opening theme tune, and he did exceptionally well at singing it with a Gulf accent. In fact, his dialect exceeded all expectations and was received tremendously well by his Khaliji fans and viewers of the drama at home.
What's next on the jet-setter's agenda? Beirut, where he will be appearing on TV host Nishan's singing talk show "Taratata," after which he will be holding a series of concerts in Jordan, Tunisia, Palestine and a number of other Arab countries.
