Sandy Tabet, who was crowned Miss Lebanon 2016 on Saturday, refused to get dragged into the sarcastic campaign social media led against her this week.
Twitter was buzzing with memes ridiculing the newly-crowned beauty queen for her awkward smile and expressions during the pageant's finale.
While 22-year-old Sandy looked more uncomfortable than happy to be named the new Miss Lebanon, social media trolls must cut her some slack: It's not easy competing on a national beauty pageant in front of millions of people.
Instead of hitting back at her critics, Sandy chose to take the high road by posting this inspirational Instagram photo/caption:
"I am dedicating this success for a cause that really matters to me : Autism !
Lately, I have been reading all the comments, and I highly respect your opinion but despite every bad comment, I will make sure to keep my country's picture bright as always !
So thank you for everyone who believed in me, for everyone who supported me and stayed by my side since day one. I will not let you down no matter what are the challenges I will be facing.
I will do my best to make you proud !(sic)"
Sandy, we salute you!
