Egyptian police have arrested the man allegedly sending messages to prominent Egyptian comedian actor Adel Imam’s cellular phone threatening to kidnap his grandchildren. The man had threatened to kidnap the children from in front of their schools if he is not paid a ransom of two million Egyptian pounds.
The man arrested was a chauffeur that worked for Adel three years ago and was fired from his job after he was caught stealing.
Imam had fired the driver named Ahmad Mohammad Salem after he was caught stealing valuable possession like watches and antiques. It appeared that Ahmad wanted to take revenge from Adel and his entire family.
According to the internet website MBC.net, Ahmad confessed to sending the messages and said that since he was fired he was thinking of a way to get back at Adel and his family. Ahmad stated that he never stole anything from the Imam family and added that Adel’s son Rami Imam had brutally assaulted before he was fired.
Ahmad noted that he used cellular phones that do not belong to him to make it impossible to get caught and he never imagined that the police would arrest him especially since he lives in a small village in the south of Cairo.
