The Iraqi artist Majed Al Muhandis worked with many of the great “Khaliji” (Gulf Countries) composers on his newest album “Othkorini” (Remember Me).
According to the London daily Elaph, Al Muhandis also worked with one of the leading Arab artists, Muhammad Abdoh, on the song “Othkorini,” written by great Saudi poet Sari.
The album includes five new songs and Al Muhandis is planning to film a video clip for “Othkorini.”
The first copies of “Othkorini” were sold out on the Jordanian, Iraqi, Saudi and Kuwaiti markets. The album accomplished great sales in Egypt and Lebanon.
Al Muhandis sings in a number of dialects on the album, including his own Iraqi dialect as well as the Saudi and Egyptian dialects.
The album was recently released during the “Eid Al Fiter” holiday season.
Al Muhandis said that he first met Muhammad Abdoh at the Doha Musical Festival. Al Muhandis performed at the award ceremony and later asked Abdoh to compose a song for him. Abdoh agreed, but asked him to find the right song with the right lyrics. Al Muhandis took the chance and went to the great poet Sari to assist him.
Abdoh suggested that Walid Fayed distribute the song for him.
“Othkorini” was produced by the leading Arab production company “Rotana” and Al Muhandis will be hosting a huge celebration in Beirut for the launch of the album on October 13th. The celebration will be filmed by “Rotana” and aired on “Rotana” music channels.
