ALBAWABA - The outrage of Taylor Swift fans was evident.

Fans of Taylor Swift waited in line at some U.S. Target shops until 1 a.m. on Friday to celebrate the release of her new album, "The Life of a Showgirl." (October 3)

The fourth song on Taylor Swift's twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, got a lot of attention as soon as the track list came out. The song is called "Father Figure." Fans asked on social media whether Swift's song "Father Figure" was going to be a reference to or a copy of a song by George Michael that came out almost 40 years ago.

"Father Figure" was a big hit in 1987. It was on George Michael's album Faith. People still like Michael's powerful music video for "Father Figure" on YouTube. George Michael tragically died in 2016, so he couldn't work with Swift. However, reports spread right away that the track would use a sample from the popular 1987 song.

There are some similarities between Taylor Swift's song "Father Figure" and George Michael's song, but Swift didn't use straight samples from the first song. Instead, she stole Michael's song and put it into her new one. His estate was okay with this.

As people wait for The Life of a Show Girl to come out, George Michael's estate put out a statement saying they liked and were excited about Taylor Swift's song "Father Figure."

"We were thrilled when Taylor Swift and her team approached us earlier this year about incorporating an interpolation of George Michael's classic song 'Father Figure' into a brand-new song of the same title to be featured on her forthcoming album," the estate of George Michael wrote on their Facebook page.

They then talked about how excited they were about the new song. The statement went on to say, "When we heard the track, we had no doubts about letting these two great artists work together, and we know George would have felt the same way." George Michael Entertainment hopes that Taylor has a fantastic time with "Father Figure" and "The Life of a Showgirl."

The "stage crew for Taylor Swift" on Instagram is called Taylor Nation. In response to the lovely message from George Michael's estate, Taylor Nation reposted the original message with a long string of the heart emoji with fire behind it. People who follow Taylor Swift or TN often use that emoji when they post about The Life of a Showgirl.

People think that Taylor Swift also pays tribute to Elizabeth Taylor on her album, The Life of a Showgirl, because it has a song with her name on it. Fans also think that the song "Wood" might be about the famous actress Natalie Wood.

There is one thing for sure. Taylor Swift has always loved music from the 1980s. In an interview with the Recording Academy, she said that late 1980s pop music drove her to record 1989.

Are you sure that "Father Figure" is the only song on The Life of a Showgirl that sounds like it was written in the 1980s? Or do you think it could be like a sister album to 1989?
