What do you do when you’ve won a Pulitzer prize?
Let’s say you write a musical and take home a Tony, another musical that takes home the Tony and Pulitzer Prize and possibly rewrites musicals forever, and then another score for a Disney-Pixar feature that gets its nominated for an Oscar. You star in an upcoming Mary Poppins sequel, host Saturday Night Live, and then become executive producer and composer on an adaptation of one of the best fantasy series’ ever written.
Oh, and just for fun, you also happen to rap alongside a historic US President.
Why, you compose the new theme for The Magic School Bus.
Say something about the modern era, say it’s nostalgic. Netflix is bringing back the popular kids’ show for reasons beyond understanding and they’ve gotten Pulitzer Prize-winner, Tony-glutton Lin-Manuel Miranda to do the theme.
The new show features the original Ms. Fizzle handing the Magic School Bus’s keys to her successor, her younger sister.

Despite what we say about time always moving forwards, it sometimes likes to stay stuck firmly in the box office-rewarding space of Generation X nostalgia.
