Iraqi singer Kadem Al Saher is one of three renowned Arab artists who will be performing at the second edition of the Sharjah World Music Festival (SWMF) from January 16-25, the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) announced.
The festival will also feature performances by Syrian singer Lina Shamamian and Lebanese artist Omaima Khalil, as well as groups of vocalists and bands from 13 countries.
The participating countries include the UAE, Egypt, England, France, India, Iraq, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Moldavia, Oman, Spain, and Syria.
Fatima Al Shweihi, SWMF coordinator at Shurooq, said that five venues have been selected for the musical shows and concerts. The venues are Al Majaz Amphitheatre, Al Majaz waterfront, Al Qasba, Heart of Sharjah, and The Flag Island.
The festival will not be limited to Arabic music only but will present the concept of world music by blending musical cultures and instruments. Some of the instruments that will be used include the guitar, marimba, xylophone, harmonica, and flute. Performances will also cover several musical genres such as classical, jazz, flamenco, pop, and Eastern music with oud, nai and qanon shows.
