Prominent Egyptian actress Laila Elwi is scheduled to return from the United States of America by the end of the month to resume filming the episodes of her upcoming television drama “Nour El Sabah” (Morning Light). Laila plays the role of a tourist guide who goes all around Egypt with tourist groups to talk about the country’s rich history.

According to the Qatar based daily, Al Raya, what helped Laila become a very suitable actress for such a role is the fact that she is fluent in English and French along with Arabic. The producers of the film had acquired the assistance of actual tourists from Europe to shoot some of the scenes with Laila.

The drama written by Majdi Sabri and directed by Samir Seif will also costar prominent Egyptian actor Hussein Fahmi.

On a different note, Laila apologized for being unable to accept an offer for the leading role in the film “Zawjat Abu El Hool” (Wife of the Sphinx). The film’s producers have also nominated actors Hisham Salim, Khaled Al Nabawi and Hind Sabri to star in the film.

Laila based her decision on the fact that the story of the film is weak, and contains scenes with nudity.

Elwi will star in a new film “Al Ahramat bi laon al Mafia” (The Pyramids in the Color of the Mafia), a joint Egyptian Swedish production.

Elwi stars alongside renowned actor John Paltro and a number of stars from around the Arab world and abroad.

The film revolves around the destruction of historical monuments in Egypt, and the life of one woman (played by Laila), who comes to Egypt seeking the remains of her lost lover who died during WWII.
