Kevin Hart has started walking again after undergoing back surgery following a car crash.

The 40-year-old comedian has been walking slowly and started physical therapy this weekend at the hospital, according to an article Saturday by TMZ.

Kevin was injured in a car accident early Sunday, September 1, when his 1970 Plymouth Barracuda rolled down an embankment on Mulholland Highway near Calabasas, California.

He underwent back surgery after suffering three spinal fractures.

Kevin was a passenger while his friend Jared Black was driving and Jared also suffered serious back injuries.

Jared's fiancee Rebecca Broxterman also was in the car, but she was not harmed.

Kevin remains in excruciating pain but has been maintaining a relatively positive attitude as he faces a long road to recovery, according to TMZ.

The comedian's friend Tiffany Haddish, 39, said Friday that he was doing well following surgery.

'He's OK. He's doing fine. As far as I know, from the last I heard, he's fine,' Tiffany told Entertainment Tonight at the Harper's Bazaar ICONS event in New York City.

'He's already walking. He's good,' she added.

Kevin is expected to spend months undergoing physical rehabilitation so it is likely his busy work schedule, including the five upcoming projects that have been announced, will be impacted by his recovery.

Kevin's wife, Eniko, 35, recently reassured fans that her husband will be 'fine'.

She said: 'He's great. He's going to be just fine.'

Eniko - who has 22-month-old son Kenzo with Kevin - has said that he is awake and talking but will need to stay in hospital for a little while in order to recuperate from the surgery and recover from the stress of the crash.
