Katie Holmes’ lawyer has dismissed the rumors that the actress is facing financial trouble as her ex-husband Tom Cruise’s child support payments for their daughter Suri are about to end.
Suri, who was born in 2006, will turn 18 on April 18, 2024, and according to some reports, Cruise has been paying around $400,000 a year in child support since their divorce in 2012.
However, Holmes’ lawyer Jonathan W. Wolfe told Radar that the story is “riddled with falsehoods” and that the claims from anonymous sources are “obvious misrepresentations”.
He added that he hoped there would be more newsworthy items to cover than such baseless rumors.
Holmes, who has been working steadily in various projects such as The Secret: Dare to Dream, Alone Together, and Rare Objects, is not dependent on Cruise’s finances, contrary to what some tabloids have suggested. She is also not planning to write a tell-all book about her marriage to Cruise, which was reportedly influenced by his adherence to Scientology.
Holmes and Cruise got married in 2006 after a whirlwind romance, but split in 2012 in a swift divorce settlement that gave Holmes primary custody of Suri. Cruise, who is known for his blockbuster action movies, has been estranged from his daughter and ex-wife, and has not been seen with them in public for years.
