The Iraqi popular singer Kathem al-Saher has said that he does not accept to offer concerts any more unless they are international in nature.
The mega star was speaking at a press conference in Beirut to anounce the release of his new album“Abhathu Anki” (I search for you), produced by Rotana recording company.
The reason behind his decision, as he said, was that he was too busy in musical composition.
“Previously, I used to be forced to offer concerts, but this is no more now,” the Iraqi artist said.
The London-based Asharq Alawsat Arabic daily cited al-Saher as saying that he gets scared whenever he releases a new album to the degree that he never shows up in public for two months at least, trying to avoid negative reactions if there are any.
However, Kathem has been a success at every release, and is gaining more popularity and respect for the classy music he offers.
The singer, said the daily, gave credit to the distinguished poets from whose works he takes lyrics such as the late Nizar Qabbani, Prince Abdul Rahman bin Musaed and Dr. Mane Said al-Utaibah.
Meanwhile, he justified his refrain from dealing with composers by saying he has this talent and does not think he needs others to compose his songs for him.
He said it’s his nature that he likes to do his work on his own, despite the fact that composing is not an easy task to handle.
“I wish I could depend on other to relieve me from the effort of composing,” he told reporters -- Albawaba.com
