Syrian actress Suzan Najm Addeen is primed to shoot for the new Egyptian series “Fatah min Asharq” (An Eastern Girl), which follows the story of the Jordanian girl considered 'the most famous spy ever' to be recruited by the Israelis to spy on Palestinian revolutionaries in the seventies. In it, she plays the lead role of the convraversial (later disowned by her family) figure Amina El-Mufti.
According to Donia Al Watan website, the series deals with the life of Amina El-Mufti, a Jordanian citizen who moved to Israel, only to become the most notorious spy to be hired by Mossad. Amina was born in 1939 to a Muslim Circassian family that moved to Jordan where they earned a high social and political standing locally, with her father working as a jeweler
The bio-drama series is produced by a Jordanian public production company, with an Egyptian script writer, Ali Ahmad. The film is directed by a Abdul Al-Hai Al-Matrawi and produced by one, Sawt Al Qahera. Negotiations are still underway between Suzan and the production company about some of the final details. Still, Suzan is fully on board and confident in the series, expressing her support for the series with its thrill, suspense, and intrigue factor. Suzan Najm Addeen, under criticism before now for 'abandoning' Syria in its time of trouble, has recently apologized for not participating in the Syrian film series “Al Masabeeh Az-zorq” (The Blue Lamps), citing that she'd rather stay with her kids in the US. Signing up for the Egyptian series “Fatah Min Asharq” (An Eastern Girl) will nevertheless be forcing her to be away from family as she pursues her filming.
