ALBAWABA - Spokesman for Live Nation confirmed the cancellation of Jennifer Lopez's 2024 North American tour to the Associated Press.
The musician described the choice as "absolutely necessary" while expressing her "completely heartsick and devastated" feelings in her newsletter. Live Nation, which promotes Lopez's concerts, said that Lopez needed a break to spend time with her "children, family, and close friends," although she would not elaborate.
She planned to use this "This Is Me... Now" tour, her first in five years, to promote both her first solo record in ten years and the accompanying film.
Lopez's dating status may or may not be relevant. Her marriage to Ben Affleck, which lasted less than two years, has recently been in the news due to reports that the couple has been living apart.
The original plan was for the tour to begin in Orlando, Florida, on June 26 and end in Houston, Texas, on August 31. Ticketmaster customers who bought their tickets via Live Nation will get their money back instantly.
"I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down," Lopez said in her "special message" to fans. You have my word that I will not do anything unless I really believe it is essential. I assure you, I will rectify my mistake, and we shall reunite. You all mean the world to me. See you later...
Lopez, who invested millions of her own dollars into the films, said that Affleck was uneasy about the kind of exposure their private lives were receiving.
Lopez announced her summer tour in February. When word got out that ticket sales weren't strong, Lopez rebranded the tour to include her biggest songs.
Claims that Lopez and Affleck were having marital problems surfaced in early May. Many publications, including People magazine, reported their separation. Among the many sightings of the celebrity couple in the last month is an appearance at Ben Affleck's daughter's high school graduation celebration on May 30. The rumors have gone unremarked upon by both Affleck and Lopez have remained silent about the rumors.
While all this was going on, Lopez had been practicing for her tour. Someone familiar with Lopez's situation told People three days ago, "They're still living apart. This time, she's in Los Angeles for tour preparations. It would seem that she is doing OK. She's utterly devoted to her job.
Lopez was also on the road promoting her new Netflix film Atlas, which broke ratings records in 55 countries upon its release over Memorial Day weekend. Affleck was shooting The Accountant 2 on the West Coast.
