ALBAWABA - Popular anime streaming website Aniwave went viral across social media after officially shutting down following the footsteps of other illegal streaming sites such as Kissanime.

The website which was previously known as '9anime' was considered one of the safest websites to stream anime online among internet users globally. According to many fans, it offered "minimal ads, a user-friendly UI, and fast video playback capabilities."

Upon visiting the website, you'll be met with a goodbye letter saying "All good things must come to an end" following an embed of the popular Charlie Puth and Wiz Khalifa song, 'See You Again.'

It looked so official that man considered it "better" than official subscription-based anime streaming sites like Crunchyroll which recently received backlash for removing the comment section under each episode.

Social media users took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and voiced their opinions about the matter in question. Here's what they had to say:

"Aniwave went down. Thank you for allowing me to pirate the anime about pirates."

One user wrote, "They'll be back. Over the past decade, I've seen tons of those sites get shut down. Then after the purge, several others rise. Because it's a very lucrative source of ad revenue, and everyone wants to be that free site to get people swarming to it. It's the internet circle of life."

"Crunchyroll will get so much profit now."
