Netflix will be concluding its Machiavellian political drama House of Cards during the show's sixth season.

The announcement followed accusations by Anthony Rapp, an actor on Star Trek: Discovery, who alleged that Spacey had sexually harassed him at a party three decades ago—at a time when the actor was 14.

In an ironic twist, sexual assault allegations have now removed a fictional US President—Spacey's Frank Underwood—an outcome which has yet to apply to Underwood's real-life counterpart, President Donald Trump.

The season is in production, with the episodes scheduled to air in 2018.

Following the accusations, Spacey came-out as gay. The timing of the announcement did little to distract press from the accusations leveled against him.

In a statement, Spacey, an Academy Award-winning actor, said he did not remember the incident in question, though suggested he may insobriety may have played a role in the events, during which he accompanied Rapp to bed and "climbed" on top of him.

Rapp said that he'd decided to come-out with his story after a recent barrage of sexual assault accusations against tentpole Hollywood figures received strong publicity and little in the way of victim-blaming.
