Spectators are gearing up to witness fierce competition between Lebanese singer Haifa Wahbi and Egyptian singer Ruby this summer season.

The competition is expected to begin on Arabic music satellite channels, and the object of the game is to make the most appearances.

Ruby is about to return to the spotlight after a year long absence, with a new album that will be ready for release in the coming weeks. Sharif Sabri, Ruby’s business manager intends on filming new music videos for all eight songs on the album.

Sharif explained that Ruby’s absence was due to her preoccupation with her final year studying at the university where she is earning her bachelor’s degree.

Haifa is on tour around the United States and Canada, stopping in a number of cities with significant Arab American populations. Haifa kicked off her tour in Ottawa on July 2.

Haifa recently held a concert alongside American singer Fifty Cent in Beirut, drawing a crowd of over 6000. Haifa performed a number of her most popular hits, in addition to her most recent "Al Wawa" (The Booboo) song.

Haifa then headed off to Egypt to record the remaining songs for her upcoming album, scheduled for release this summer. The Arab satellite music channel ‘Melody’ has begun airing Haifa's latest music video "Al Wawa," much anticipated by viewers around the Arab world.

On a different note, a request submitted by Haifa a year ago to become a member of the Lebanese Professional Artist Association has been denied. The Association committee that evaluates all artists wishing to join did not approve of Haifa, in addition to the fact that the majority of female artists in the association refused to accept Haifa’s membership.
