Egyptian actress Hannan Turk is engaged in extensive work sessions with the cast and crew of the upcoming film “Wafa,” along with script writer and prominent Syrian actor Duraid Laham.

The film, directed by Mohammad Abu Yousef and written by Mohammad Salmawi, portrays the life of Palestinian Martyr Wafa Idrees.

“I have always dreamed of portraying her on the big screen,” declared Hannan.

The actress was fascinated by the script because it reflects the humanistic aspect of the martyr and how she reached the decision to sacrifice her life for the national Palestinian cause.

Hanan researched Wafa’s life to be become familiar with the nuances of her character, and viewed the short documentary film about Wafa that was screened at a film festival in France two years ago.

Hassan stated that she strives to portray a believable image of Wafa, who symbolizes “true faith and courage.”

The location of the filming has yet to be decided.

In Cairo, Egyptian artist Ashraf Zaki, head of the Arts Theater House, announced that he will revitalize musical productions in Egypt. Zaki has signed a contract with Hassan Abdul Salam to direct a new musical written by Waleed Yousif and starring Egyptian actor Ahmad Fishawi and Hanan.
