Egyptian television announcer Dr. Hala Sarhan has returned to the small screen with two new shows "Jana Al Hawa" and "Hala Show" on the new music channel Rotana, which she now has an executive position at after leaving the Egyptian satellite channel Dream. Hala's new show will both be brought live and will tackle issues dealing with the music world.
According to the London based Elaph, Hala's new shows will begin airing this October and will both be hosting famous figures from the entertainment world in live interviews. Rotana is very positive that both shows will prove to be a huge success due to Hala's high popularity.
Recently, Sarhan had completed the filming of an episode for her show on the Egyptian satellite channel Dream at midnight and had given orders to her crew to be at her office first thing in the morning, not knowing the shocking news that awaited her the following day. One of her assistants had called her the next day telling her that an administrative decision was passed out to all employees stating clearly that she no longer works for the channel.
The assistant told Hala the news and asked her why would the administration pass out such a decision, but she simply stayed quiet and decided not make any comments until she finds out what was going on. Hala refused to answer any of the continuous phone calls that kept on coming, hoping that there was some kind of mistake in what had happened.
The shocking news set in when Hala had turned her TV on and watched for herself a breaking news headline on Dream that stated clearly that “Hala Sarhan no longer works for this channel and will not be making any kind of appearance from this day forward.” At this point the overwhelming embarrassment Hala felt was unbearable and she felt as if cold water was throne in her face publicly and in front of million of viewers.
Hala realized that Dream had cancelled her contract and so she decided to look into the number of offers she had previously received from a number of local and satellite TV channels in order to protect her reputation. Hala revealed that until this point she does not know why the channel had fired her for she could recall no reason behind such a decision.
Hala added that despite the cruelty in the way she was laid off, she will continue in her career path and has in fact signed a contract to with the Music Production Company Rotana to be the Egyptian Regional Manager. Hala signed an agreement with Saudi Prince Al Waleed Ibn Talal in Saudi Arabia, after negotiations that lasted for weeks.
Al Waleed had stressed that he chose Hala for the position due to the fact that she has proved to be a successful woman who always strives to improve and introduce new ideas. He added that Rotana will sure witness progress and more success with Hala on board.
On her part, Hala expressed her honor to be appointed to such a position and has promised to do all she can to bring more success to Rotana. Hala has become to be one of the Arab world's most famous television personalities through her daring ways and issues she insists on tackling regardless of consequences.
Sarhan was one of the major reasons for Dream TV's popularity. After several years of being a major attraction at Saudi-owned ART, she decided that it was time to move on and ART's loss was indisputably Dream TV's gain. Sarhan is that rare mix of television personalities: a competent, professional journalist with an excellent grasp of her subject matter who conducts gritty, incisive interviews, and has a savvy personality for understanding of the power of television. –Albawaba.com
