There's fierce competition as it is between the starlets of Ramadan TV dramas, but this year it's all about the competition between Lebanese singers-turned-actresses Haifa Wehbe and Myriam Fares.
Both are accused of playing uncanningly similar roles in their TV series debuts. Myriam stars in "Ittiham" (Accusation), while Haifa plays the leading lady in "Kalam Ala Waraq" (Words on Paper).
Where does the similarity come in? The two beauties play the role of a poor young woman who works in sewing. Their characters are then forced to move abroad for a "better job," which leads them to fall in the grip of a sex-trafficking mafia instead.
In "Accusation," Myriam - AKA Reem - leaves her home in Beirut after accepting a job offer in Egypt. She hopes the move will enable her to make enough money to marry her fiance.
Meanwhile in "Words on Paper," Haifa plays the role of Habiba, who moves to Egypt with her best friend for work, taking her away from her lover Hamza, who gets killed in Lebanon before she moves away for good.
The two characters may be similar, but their performances will be the judge of how successful each drama is going to be.
