Prepare for a musical feast at Dubai Media City Amphitheatre over the coming months, with four top acts announced yesterday alone.
First up, legendary British singer-songwriter Richard Ashcroft will join Lily Allen for Party in the Park, set to take place on Friday, November 14. The 43-year-old is best-known for his time fronting indie rock favourites The Verve, whose hits included Bittersweet Symphony and Sonnet.
He has also released three UK top five solo albums and last year supported Noel Gallagher for his show on the Palm Jumeirah. See www.partyinthepark.ae for more information.
Next up at the outdoor venue will be Bastille, who have joined the bill for RedFestDXB (to be held on February 12 and 13).
The London indie-pop act broke both the UK and the States with their 2013 debut album Bad Blood, which contained their signature song to date Pompeii.
They will play as part of a jam-packed line-up which also includes Iggy Azalea, The Script and Rixton. See www.redfestdxb.com.
Finally, John Legend and Esperanza Spalding will take to the stage on Friday, February 27 to close the 13th Emirates Airline Dubai International Jazz Festival. Ohio native Legend is known for his smooth soul style as well as his intimate ballads. A nine-time Grammy winner, his major hits include Ordinary People, Green Light (with Andre 3000) and the recent Billboard number one All of Me.
Spalding meanwhile picked up the Grammy for Best New Artist in 2011, beating Drake and Mumford & Sons to the prize. The 30-year-old Oregonian plays jazz bass and cello, as well as singing. Her most recent album, 2012’s Radio Music Society, peaked in the American top 10 and picked up a further two Grammys. See www.dubaijazzfest.com.
