ALBAWABA - Recently, Turkey's art community has been devastated when two actresses committed suicide. First, Merve Kayaalp and then Seda Fettahoğlu.

Following the sad news, producer Faruk Turgut made a statement that would further fuel the discussions after these deaths.

Producer Faruk Turgut said: "When actors are not in demand, they declare someone, usually Hande Erçel, as a scapegoat. Moreover, the girl does not have any favors like the others."

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Istanbul City Theater actress Seda Fettahoğlu was found dead in Martyrs Park on 10 December. After Fettahoğlu's suicide, Turkish actress Melek Baykal reacted by saying, "Magazine stars and sleazy actors are on the screen."

Producer Turgut responded to the allegations by saying: "First of all, I am very sorry. But only the producers should not be blamed! Managers also cause monopolization. There are management offices that take the writer-director with them. They constantly impose their own actors and crews on the channels and monopolize."

Turgut was reminded of the words of Melek Baykal, supported by Nebahat Çehre, Onur Büyüktopçu and Goncagül Sunal, and was asked who was wrong.

Turgut said: "I have signed 74 important productions so far. I have paid money to the actor who deserves it. That's why my conscience is very clear. Melek Baykal is a valuable theater actress, she constantly receives offers. Nebahat Çehre always rejects the offers. Last time, I asked her to play the grandmother role in 'Cranberry Sherbet', but she did not accept. There is jealousy with many other names. When they do not see demand, they declare someone, usually Hande Erçel, as a scapegoat."

Turgut, who also commented on Hande Erçel's performance, said:

"Turkey is discussing Hande's acting, but when an audience in South America is watching her, they don't say, 'How limited is her acting?' They watch it with admiration. I don't understand why they're making the girl a scapegoat. Is Demet Özdemir or the others better? It's like they're all giving Oscar-worthy performances, but only Hande is bad! Besides, the girl doesn't have a lot of money like the others. Everyone should accept that Hande Erçel is the name that guarantees the foreign sales of a series. This means the survival of the production."
