Prominent Egyptian actor Farouq Al Fishawi has denied recent circulating rumors that he was arrested in Lebanon attempting to smuggle drugs into Egypt. The actor stressed that the rumors are mere lies that are created by individuals whose goal is to hurt him and his family.
Farouq noted that for the past months, certain people have been going to extremes to try and deform his image and that of his son by creating lies. The actor added that such attempts to ruin his reputation will not succeed because he is always willing to face any allegation that he is attacked with.
It was rumored that Farouq was arrested by Lebanese airport security for drug smuggling. Farouq who was in Lebanon on a short vacation accompanied by his son Ahmad was caught red handed with bags of drugs strapped to his chest, when he was about to board his flight to return home.
A source at the airport revealed that Farouq was shocked to learn that there was an order to have him searched, and thought that since he is a famous actor no one would bother him with the routine procedures. The source added that the amount of drugs the actor was caught with is enough for personal use to some extent, as well as may be used to sell.
