No, Fadel Shaker might be dead to music, but he’s alive to religion. The Lebanese has-been singer recently posted a video on facebook doing the ‘Athan’ (Call for prayers) at the Bilal Bin Ribah Mosque in the south of Lebanon. The video went viral, spreading to many other social networking sites.

According to the Middle East news portal Elaph, the credit for Fadel’s guidance into a life of devotion to God in Salafism goes to Sheikh Al Aysar. In result, Fadel is now repenting of his sins by pleading people to not even listen to any of his ‘taboo’ music.

The response to his request has been split with some agreeing to quit the practice, while others refused to do so because they didn’t believe it was, in fact, sinful. Fadel, the opposers said, is free to walk in any path he wants, but he cannot impose his beliefs and new way of life on them.
