Egyptian actor Ezzat al Alaili is currently shooting the series Noor al Amar (Moonlight) and gearing up for a play, but the surprise will be his intention to release a singing album that will include the songs he performed in his previous roles.

“I want to release a singing album that includes some of the songs I performed in my previous roles. My aim is not to secure financial gains but only to maintain it as a souvenir. I think an artist should be comprehensive,” Alaili told the daily al Hayat.

He said, “during my artistic career I played many historic, social, patriotic, national and religious roles but despite all that my biggest dream which I reiterated very often is to play a role as Caliph Omar bin al Khattab.”

“A good script attracts me as I am an advocate of the fact that an artist should be present everywhere,” said Alaili adding “I seek to select humanitarian work which depicts the real situation and I try to offer something meaningful in addition to new topics and unique roles.”

The actor believes that “a big development has taken place and that he is for this development and renewal. In the past an artist could pave his way with talent alone but now he has to arm himself with culture and knowledge.”

The number of films in which Alaili played roles reached 90 in addition to his roles in other Arab films. He also played roles in more than 30 TV series and many plays. He is considered one of the few artists who were able to maintain their status and artistic orientation despite their old age -- Albawaba.com
