Over the past years and in her quest to enhance belly dancing position in the world and in Egypt in particular, renowned dancer Dina, one of the most gifted dancers in Egypt, was finally able to negotiate for the foundation of an Oriental Dancing Union.
The Kuwait daily, Al Rai Al Aam newspaper reported in its Monday issue that belly dancers Dina and Zizi Mustafa has lead the campaign by sending official papers to the Egyptian Ministry of Social Affairs, requesting the foundation of an Oriental Dancing Syndicate.
With the absence of Fifi Abdo, Lucy, Nagwa Fuad and Suhair Zaki, the ministry has announced the initial foundation of the syndicate, appointing Dina the chairman of the board, being the only dancer in Egypt holding a high degree, and Zizi Mustafa the deputy of the union.
The initial announcement of the foundation came to explain the importance of belly dancing in Egypt and the world, "We are eager to enhance the position of belly dancing in Egypt in particular. We are also looking to boost the social, cultural and artistic levels of dancers in Egypt," the statement said.
Earlier last month, Dina has reached an agreement with one of the TV satellite channels to present a show about the life of renowned dancers in Egypt. The 30-episode program is expected to talk about all generations of famous belly dancers in Egypt.
Dina, who is considered the trademark for current oriental dancing, went into acting as well, doing TV series "Roda Qalby" (Give Me Back My Heart), annual Ramadan shows, and several plays performances. – Albawaba.com
