Cast of Amarit Ya’koubain faces more lawsuits

The cast of the upcoming film “Amarit Ya’koubain” is facing several lawsuits from the real tenants of Amarit Ya’koubain, stressing that the film is a violation of their privacy and rights. the lawsuit is mainly targeted at the producer Imad El Din Adeeb, Waheed Hamed the scenarist, and Alaa Aswani the author of the original novel.

 

The lawsuit was filed by one of the tenants of the building saying that the film is in an insult to them and past tenants, and portrays them as indecent people. The film is considered one of the biggest projects in Egyptian cinema history. Waheed succeeded in combining some of the most prominent names of the Egyptian cinema in his film, which is based on the novel by Aswani. The list of actors include Adel Imam, Nour El Sherif, Summaya Al Khashab, Laila Elwi, Hind Sabri, Ahmad Rateb, Ahmad Budair, and more.

 

The original tenants of the popular building Amarit Ya’koubain have strongly refused to allow the cast of the film that is named after the building to shoot any of the scenes inside their building. All the tenants ordered the door attendant to refuse any of the cast to enter or even get close to the premises.

The cast of the film has denied that the film insults them in any way and stressed that the film features different aspects of social life that exists everywhere.


The director for the new film will be Marwan, the son of scenarist Waheed Hamid, and he is given a strong start as his first step into directing. The movie is about fighting corruption and Adel performs the role of a high ranked official who is suspected to be involved in different acts of corruption.
