Due to an 'unverified threat,' according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the Grammy-winning rapper was advised to cancel her concert at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Tuesday—mere minutes before it was set to begin.
While the police department specified that 'there is no immediate threat to public safety,' Cardi's show has been re-scheduled for September 11, and ticket holders for the evening's event will be honored then.

'Dear Indiana people I’m so sorry for today,' Cardi tweeted to her fans on Tuesday evening.
'I will like to let you know I was at the venue I was even rehearsing a new move I been excited to do on my show,' she continued, alongside a video of an empty concert stage with graphics and dancers in the background.
'Unfortunately there was a security threat that is currently under investigation right now. My safety and your safety first,' she concluded.
On Monday, Cardi joined Senator Bernie Sanders to film a 2020 presidential campaign video in Detroit directed toward young voters.
An apologetic message: 'Dear Indiana people I’m so sorry for today,' Cardi tweeted to her fans on Tuesday evening
She also filmed a brief message to voters on her Instagram that was in support of democratic campaigns.
While no immediate connection has been drawn between Cardi's political activities and the threat made against her on Tuesday night, it was nonetheless decided that the show should be postponed to allow for police to conduct an investigation.
According to The Blast, the decision to cancel the show so close to start time was not made by Cardi herself, but by security officials.
There have been several all-too-recent examples of violence at public performance venues in the last number of years.
In both 2017 and 2015, terrorist attacks killed scores of concertgoers in both Manchester, England and Paris, France.
Regardless, many of Cardi's fans were angry at the decision to cancel the evening's show due to a concern for safety, and others voiced their discord on social media in reference to the singer's political leanings.
