Rapper Busta Rhymes made quite an impact at the VIP Room's Hip Hop On Air: NYCTODXB night over the weekend. The 44-year old took his time getting to the stage, but once 2am struck he knew what everybody wanted.
Beginning with his 2002 Mariah Carey mega duet I Know What You Want, the hip-hop legend was accommodating to the point where he was not averse to posing for selfies from the stage. Handing the microphone to other audience members was another highlight, even if their efforts weren't always stellar.
Set in the opulent JW Marriott Marquis club, the evening's tone was set by the club attendants' pure white suits, sparklers going off with every purchase of a premium bottle and an influx of people around 1.30am, which created an electric atmosphere.
Short and to the point (the place closes at three), what Busta's set lacked in length it made up for in entertainment.
From now on the new hip hop and RnB night will bring a roster of four NYC DJs including Spade, MOS, Equal and Mel Debarge, for exclusive residencies.
