Rumor came out last week that Syrian actor, Basel Khayat, has fled his country and would not be returning until President Bashar al Assad was ousted. The reports started after an alleged interview where Basel told a magazine about his political views.
But the actor has now denied that the interview took place at all and has issued a press release stating that he is only staying away from Syria until the situation has calmed down.
Basel added that, as a mere TV personality, he is in no position to talk politics and will be leaving the big decisions up to the experts. He added that since the beginning of the crisis he has only ever been against violence and with the Syrian people but has left the politics to others.
