Bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do when they come for you?
Nothing, apparently.
Martin Lawrence, co-star of Bad Boys and Bad Boys II, says that the chances of there being a third movie are unlikely.
Though the film was initially slated for a 2017 release—and a fourth movie set for 2019—Sony’s continual delays of the project meant that director Joe Carnahan (replacing the first two’s Michael Bay) eventually abandoned the project, throwing the timetable into disarray.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Lawrence said, “I don’t think we’re going to get one, not the way everything’s turning out, Will is off doing another movie, and I don’t it’s going to happen.”
With Aladdin and a bunch of DC Cinematic Universe films for Smith on the horizon, it looks like the Bad Boys will be out for another decade or two before returning.
Not, if you remember how awful Bad Boys II was, that this is a bad thing.
