Cairo gets ready to talk art

The Art Appreciation Seminar, to be held next week at the dynamic art education platform in Cairo's Zamalek dubbed ArtTalks, will introduce the basic elements of Fine Arts to the audience. Art critic Mariam Hamdy will decipher the language of art to participants, enhancing their understanding of art.

“By providing attendees with basic vocabulary and understanding of what makes a good painting from an aesthetic and technical perspective, they will leave the seminar with a working understanding of how to view and value works of art,” said the Art Appreciation Seminar in a press release.

Currently pursuing a PhD in Art History at Helwan University, lecturer Mariam Hamdy is a fine art critic, writer, and artist. After acquiring a BA in Performing and Visual Arts from the American University in Cairo, Hamdy completed an MA in Contemporary Fine Art at the Kent Institute of Art and Design.

Dedicated to building a new generation of art enthusiasts in Egypt, ArtTalks has previously organized education seminars, including; Top 25 Artworks from Egyptian Museum of Modern Art, Egyptian Surrealism, among others.

The seminar will cost LE300, and registration is required.
