Al Majaz Amphitheatre - affiliated to the Sharjah Media Centre (SMC) – hosted on Friday night the spectacular musical play "The Shadows", performed by an elite group of renowned artists, actors and musicians, amid an overwhelming audience interaction and applause.

Written by accomplished Lebanese journalist Nadine Al Assad, with music by brilliant Bahraini composer Khalid El Sheikh, and featuring Lebanese director Munjid Al Sharif, the musical flaunts a lineup of Arab artists led by Syrian Arab Idol star Hazem Sherif, Lebanese artist Carole Aoun along with the internationally acclaimed Inana Group.

Enthusiasm began early as the audience started to flock to the theatre two hours before the showcasing of the musical evening, which composes a beautifully executed message of love and peace conveyed by the Emirate of Sharjah to the entire world.

In a harmonious arrangement of poetry, song and stage drama in one magnificent show, Al Assad performed through a combination of poetry and songs, and Arab Idol star Hazem Sherif appeared for the first time in front of Sharjah's audience, framing the outline for the musical’s several featured acts that took the audience on an extraordinary journey of history, from ancient times to present day, and further included Syrian and Lebanese folklore.

The show was flagged off with a brief speech by Nadine Al Assad who talked about the musical which tells the story of a woman trying to find herself. The audience delighted in the breathtaking musical play from its very first act, leading with a poem about Sharjah recited by poet Nadine Al Assad, and then passionately sung by Al Assad herself along with Hazem Sherif, and the voice of Carol Aoun who was not able to participate in the life show for emergency reasons.

In another scene, 30 performers dressed in Islamic heritage-inspired costume presented a wondrous portrayal exemplifying the emirate's internationally acclaimed cultural position and its message of peace and civilization to the world.
