Don't post it if you don't have the copyright to back it. That's the tough lesson Amr Diab is learning this week after many of his songs were deleted from YouTube due to copyright infringement.
The Egyptian superstar's former production companies “Sawt Aldelta” and “Alama Alfann” submitted complaints to the video website because only they own the rights to distribute and publish his songs from that era of his career, reported Al Jaras Magazine.
YouTube acted on the complaints after proper documentation was provided by the companies to prove their rights to the songs. In addition to deleting all the illegally published tunes, the website also allgedly sent an email warning Amr that if they were republished without prior permission from the copyright owners, his entire channel would be deleted from YouTube.
The "Tonight" hit maker and now Rotana artist is understandably frustrated because he will be negatively impacted financially by the company's move. He will no longer receive revenue from fans viewing the songs since they have been taken down.
Will he dare re-upload them?
