The Lebanese Satellite channel LBC was the first to air the music video for the duet “Layal Lebanon” (Lebanese Nigths) by Lebanese singer Elissa and world known singer Chris De Burgh. The London based Elaph reported that the video was filmed in Lebanon and Sweden under the supervision of director Salim Al Turk. LBC was given the sole right to be the first to air the music video before distributed to other stations.
The song was inspired by lyrics from Chris’s last visit to Lebanon in 2000, and the recording of the duet was complete in early July of this year. The song will be released in the international markets in a CD for Burgh to be released next July. Alissa noted that “During his last visit to Lebanon, Chris de Burgh wrote the lyrics of this song, composed and dubbed them “Lebanese Nights”. Then he started seeking a young Lebanese female singer to participate with him in singing.” Burgh’s decision was made to Alissa as he felt appreciation for her voice after he listened to songs sent to him by her business manager, who had a previous connection with the British SInger. After his selection of Alissa among a list of many singers, she traveled with him to London where to recorded the song. Chris Porter who usually remakes the songs of Robbie Williams and George Michael worked on their new single.
She added that both singers sang in Arabic and English. Alissa expressed her pride for participation in the duet along with Burgh, whom she described as “an international artist” never thinking she would be given the opportunity to sing along with him. She hopes that her experience with Chris will gain her international recognition.
This is not the first time for Alissa to be involved in a duet with international singers. The first time was with a member of the Maritano Troupe in addition to a single with Sting.
Alissa’s dreams are many and she confirms that she will record a breakthrough in her new song hoping to make up for a two-year sabbatical. She is also the first Arab singer to participate in a concert under the auspices of the Jordanian Queen Rania in presence of the former US president Bill Clinton.
