Performing to the desert tribes: DJ Mohammad hip-hops over to Dubai

It’s going to be a hip-hop flashback on September 13 in Dubai. DJ Ali Shaheed Mohammad, a member of the legendary group A Tribe Called Quest, will be performing at the Deep Crates night at Casa Latina, Ibis Hotel Al Barsha. DJ Ali Shaheed Mohammad was one of the founders of the band, whose songs including “Bonita Applebum”, “Can I Kick It?” and “I Left My Wallet in El Segundo” are regarded as classics by the hip hop community.

Since A Tribe Called Quest, he has gone on to found and be part of groups and projects such as the Native Tongue Posse (alongside De La Soul, Jungle Brothers, Queen Latifah, and Monie Love), as well as The Ummah (with Jay Dee and Q Tip), and Lucy Pearl (consisting of Ali Shaheed, Raphael Saadiq, and Dawn Robinson). DJ Ali Shaheed Mohammad has sold five platinum and gold LPs, and has been nominated four times for the Grammy, two times with A Tribe Called Quest, one time with D’Angelo, and once with Lucy Pearl.
