UAE singer Ahlam, the former judge on popular talent show “Arab Idol”, and now obviously very busy and in demand, is always finding new ways to engage her fans through her official Twitter page. Recently, Ahlam invited her fans to take part in a contest she'd launched entitled “Ikhtar Hadyatak” (Choose Your Gift). But what was really behind her Twitter-games? Was the recent charity-working celebrity really fishing for gift ideas or - dare we say it - presents for herself?
MBC.net reports that Ahlam posted photos of her inside a gift store, appealing to her fans to choose the most suitable gift for themsleves. But was she secretly asking them to select a treat for her, hinting at her favorite items? She wrote “My dear fans, each of you choose the gift that most suits you”.
The contest, clearly started up as a light exercise in material-titillation, created quite a buzz and actually received many comments as fans went along with Ahlam. Many female fans plumped for the silver ring displayed on the menu, while male fans mostly said they would choose one of the cell phones displayed.
Ahlam's experiment - a material expriment in gifts- it would seem had rendered quite a finding in gender behavior. Boys and their toys, girls and their pearls!
