It’s another action-packed weekend in Dubai with a full programme of events for residents and visitors of all ages. Whether you like rock, classical or pop music there are gigs and concerts galore as well as sporting action and theatre performances thrown into the mix. Here are seven of our top picks for this weekend.


Stay on top of the beauty trends

If you’re in the beauty industry then a trip to Beautyworld Middle East is a must. One of the top events of its kind in the world, Beautyworld Middle East will feature 1,500 exhibitors showcasing the latest products in beauty, hair, fragrances and wellbeing. Head to the theatre

 

Take the family on a trip to the theatre this weekend as the popular West End production Monstersaurus comes to the Madinat Theatre. Based on the bestselling book by Claire Freedman and Ben Cort, Monstersaurus tells the story of Monty, a young inventor who decides to create a world full of wacky monsters. Once he’s made them, he realises he doesn’t quite know what to do! The show will delight theatre goers young and old with energetic dance routines and songs to sing along to. Recommended for ages 3+. Soak in the sounds

British DJ and producer Jonas Blue will headline Zero Gravity’s ‘One Big Friday’ music festival on 11 May. The BRIT Award nominated artist has sold more than 21 million singles around the world and fans can expect to hear some of his biggest tracks including ‘Fast Car’, ‘Perfect Strangers’ and ‘Mama’ at this unmissable beach-side music event. Rock on with the Stereophonics

 

The legendary Welsh rock band will entertain their UAE fans at Dubai Media City Amphitheatre on 11 May. Stopping off in Dubai as part of their latest world tour, fans can expect to hear them play some of their biggest hits including ‘Maybe Tomorrow’, ‘Have A Nice Day’ and the number one single ‘Dakota’. Experience a hypnotic show

Former Germany’s Got Talent contestant Juliet Arndt known as the ‘mentalist’ brings her one-woman motivational and educational mind-reading/hypnosis show to Dubai with two performances on 11 May. Enjoy a special evening of classical music

For the very first time, gifted Emirati classical musicians will come together to perform in a special one-night only concert at the DCC World Classical Music Series. Seven pianists will perform a stunning classical programme that includes pieces composed by one of the talented musicians. The programme commemorates the Year of Zayed, which is dedicated to the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the UAE’s Founding Father who was born in 1918. Get your tickets here

See all the sailing action

Dubai’s biggest sailing event, the Al Gaffal Long Distance Race, returns this weekend to close the city’s marine sports season. Featuring all-Emirati crewmembers sailing 60ft dhows, the race starts at Sir Bu Nair Island and finishes at the Burj Al Arab. Crews will be competing for millions of dirhams of prizes, so head to the beach and enjoy the race as it draws to a thrilling close.
