World's oldest man from Venezuela passes away at 114

ALBAWABA - Juan Vicente Perez Mora, a man from Venezuela, who was recognized as the world's oldest man by Guinness World Records in 2022, has passed away at the age of 114. This news was shared by Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, who paid tribute to Perez on the social media platform X.

Perez Mora was officially acknowledged as the oldest living man on February 4, 2022, at the age of 112 years and 253 days. He was a beloved father of 11 children and, by 2022, had a large family including 41 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren. He had a big and loving lineage around him.

Born on May 27, 1909, in El Cobre, located in Venezuela's Andean state of Tachira, Perez, affectionately known as Tio Vicente by his loved ones, was the ninth child among ten siblings.

His life was a testament to hard work and dedication. From as early as five years old, he began working on the farm alongside his father and brothers. They were involved in harvesting sugar cane and coffee, demonstrating his early introduction to hard work.

Beyond his contributions to farming, Perez Mora also served his community as a sheriff. In this role, he was tasked with resolving land and family disputes, showcasing his commitment to justice and community well-being. His life, marked by longevity, service, and family, leaves a legacy that extends far beyond his years.

With his tragic passing, the title of the longest-living man now goes to a Japanese man by the name of Gisaburō Sonobe.
