ALBAWABA - Iran made headlines when it was revealed that Masoumeh Sanei Taraki, the oldest person in the country, passed away at the astounding age of 125. Despite state television's announcement, her remarkable longevity sadly did not gain recognition from the Guinness Book of World Records.

Currently, the Guinness Book of World Records still acknowledges Frenchwoman Jeanne Calment as the oldest person in history, having lived up to 122 years.

Born in 1898 according to local records, Masoumeh's age surpasses many historical figures known for their long lives. However, some discrepancies may arise due to the lack of international recognition, leading to speculations about the accuracy of her age.

Iran is a country where official family registration records were introduced in 1918, which means the accuracy of age verification for people born before this period remains a challenge.

This makes a great example of all the complexities surrounding age verification and the limitations of historical record-keeping in determining the authenticity of claims about exceptionally long life spans.

Despite some controversies, the task of establishing the authenticity of such remarkable age claims continues, shedding light on the intricate interplay between historical documentation, technological advancements, and cultural practices related to recording personal data.
