A South Carolina man has suffered a life-changing traumatic brain injury after falling from the second floor of a house while hanging Christmas decorations.
Father-of-two Jason Blair, a handyman from Fort Mill, was hired by homeowner Stephanie Haas to hang Christmas lights on the front of her house before the day took a 'horrific turn of events'.
'I hired a handyman to come hang Christmas lights because I was not comfortable with my husband climbing on the roof that high,' said Ms Hass in a GoFundMe page she set up to help cover Mr Blair's medical expenses.
'Jason fell off of our roof, onto the concrete and sustained life-threatening injuries.'
According to Ms Hass, Mr Blair is in a medically-induced coma and is breathing through a ventilator.
'Along with a severe brain injury that required surgery to remove a portion of his skull, he also sustained several skull fractures, broken ribs, a blood clot in his lung, and all over body bruising.'
'Moving forward there is little hope for recovery' she said.
However, despite the troubling prognosis, his family are rallying around him in the hope that he can make a recover.
'I think he’s going to make it' said Jason's brother Roger Eddington, speaking to local news network WCNC, 'my brother is a strong man.'
According to Ms Hass, Mr Blair was the sole source of income for his family, as his wife Doris is unemployed and now has to find a way to support their two children.
In an update encouraging people to donate to help the Blair family, Ms Hass said that Mr Blair's condition has unfortunately regressed.
'During the holidays we should all remember that it is the season for giving,' she said.
'If we as a community could come together and donate a little bit each we would still be able to make sure the family is taken care of for the holiday.'
At the time of publishing, Mr Blair's GoFundMe page has raised $19,000 of its $20,000 goal.
