Thousands of live fish were dropped from a small plane into a lake in Utah to 'stock fish into high-mountain lakes'. The task was undertaken by Utah Division of Wildlife Resources the video of which was shared by them on Facebook.

It shows thousands of fish flying over a lake as they are dropped from a hole at the bottom of the plane.

The video is grabbing eyeballs for the wildlife division's unique way of stocking fish in remote lakes. Along with the video posted on August 24 the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources wrote: 'If you see flying fish at Utah's remote lakes, don't be alarmed'! says the caption posted along with the video on August 24.

'The fish are tiny - anywhere from 1-3 inches long - which allows more than 95 per cent of them to survive the fall', Utah Division of Wildlife Resources explained in a tweet, according to NDTV reports.

According to LiveScience.com, over 200 of Utah's remote mountain lakes are stocked each year with fish since they are situated in remote areas and take longer to reach by land. This method is quick and less stressful for fish else many of Utah's lakes would be have no fish at all.

The bizarre yet interesting way Utah Division of Wildlife Resources has attracted attention online. One Facebook user wrote: 'I had no idea this is how they refill'.

While another wrote: 'Give us a heads up before transplanting any moose or antelope'. 'Can I get the scheduled drops. So I can be ready with a net. Probably the only way I might catch a fish', quipped another.
