Political and social science books, among many others, make up Ghaith’s classic car mobile library that cruises the streets of Jordan's capital, Amman. Nancy, as owner Ghaith likes to call his vintage Mercedes, carries over 300 various books available to read by customers in exchange for a symbolic price.

Nancy carries a variety of books, especially rare ones, displaying them to passersby in different parts of the city. In Jabal al-Weibdeh in Amman, Nancy attracts customers with a backdrop of old houses, cafes, and cultural centers.

Ghaith Bahdoosh, Nancy's driver, started "Books on the Road" to spread the culture of reading by bringing the book to the reader in places like gardens, parks, and squares, as Ghaith told al-Arabiyya.net.

Ghaith added that the goal of “Books on the Road” is to realize his dream of creating a library in his home city near Madaba, south of Amman. By selling books, he can fund this dream.

He says that the idea makes it easier for the reader to get books since they don’t need to make a special trip to the library. As for saving books, he says many people have donated to the project, giving books for the mobile library to sell to future readers.

Ghaith doesn't hide his happiness as he gets closer to realizing his dream, and one book at a time, Ghaith and Nancy are spreading a love of reading in Amman.
