The Internal Security Forces nabbed a man accused of pickpocketing people and worshipers at mosques while practicing their religious rituals, the ISF said in a statement on Thursday.
The statement said the suspect, a man identified as Sh. M., was arrested on Jan. 23 at the entrance of Bahaa Eddine al-Hariri mosque in Sidon.
It added: “the suspect...with his brother, took advantage of crowds of worshipers and people in mosques during prayer times and funerals."
The amounts stolen ranged between LL300,000 ($200) and LL500,000 ($330).
The detainee has a criminal record and is wanted on several charges including drug dealing, it added.
