As part of a massive development project in Meydan, Dubai announced Tuesday it will be building the largest indoor ski resort, AFP reported.

The new development will top Dubai's current ski resort, which opened in 2005 and made the Guinness Book of World Records with a 400-meter slope.

The resort will be part of Meydan City Corporation's plan to construct 3.7 million square meters of a leisure destination in Dubai. Estimated at a cost of $6.8 billion, the project will be completed in five years and house the ski resort in the new Meydan One Mall.

“In a city which never stops innovating, today’s announcement is significant for the future of Dubai and the UAE,” Meydan Chairman Saeed Al-Tayer said.
