Canadian transgender model Gigi Gorgeous, was held for over 5 hours at the Dubai airport Wednesday, People Magazine reported. "Yesterday was one of the scariest moments of my entire life and I wouldn’t wish it upon anyone," Gorgeous said on social media.
"How you can be denied entry somewhere just because of who you are is seriously disgusting and also very scary. This further proves the need for CHANGE.”
According to TMZ, a Dubai immigration officer said to Gorgeous "I was told you are transgender. You cannot come into the country." Airport police claimed Gorgeous used a passport that listed her as male and displayed a male photo, but Gorgeous claims that is not the case.
