Proving Bassem hasn't lost his touch since he's been away, Egypt's top prosecutor, General Hisham Barakat, received dozens of complaints against the popular television satirist less than 24 hours after he returned to the air.
His hit TV show Al Bernameg is now in its third season.
One person who wasn't too happy to see Bassem's return on her telly was journalist Farida Shobashi who slammed the satirist whilst talking to the press at the “Kammel Jmeelak” (Finish Your Favor) conference.
It seems that what got Farida's goat was the fun Bassem poked at ousted Islamist president Mohamed Morsi, the Muslim Brotherhood, as well as the zealous supporters of army chief Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi during Friday's scandalous episode.
Farida told the press she felt “physically sick” after watching the episode, adding that his episode had nothing to do with freedom of expression but was instead an indication of the show reaching a point where it's become sleazy. She also accused Bassem of fudging the truth and tampering with reality. Not a happy bunny, are we Farida?
One sketch in particular seems to have got Farida fired up - a scene in which Bassem described Egypt as having been "raped" for 60 years.
Calling this a "distortion of the truth", Farida also hit Bassem with a below-the-belt insult when she accused him of talking "like he's got his hands on his penis". No Farida wasn't having a freudian slip - she was calling Bassem out for thinking with his penis and his dirty mind.
Penis comments aside, Farida has some political comments for Bassem - she wants to know whether he thinks Egypt was "raped" when it was colonised by Britain and France.
Although perhaps he could have used more sensitive language than the word "raped", Farida could do with some lightening up - Bassem Yousef is a comedian and will always try to evoke a visceral reaction from his crowd. Sometimes that does involve blurring the lines of truth. That's showbiz, Farida!
