He was also fined for his offence.
A government employee was sentenced to six months in jail and a Dh1,000 fine for accepting a Dh500 bribe in Abu Dhabi.
The Abu Dhabi Federal Supreme Court handed the Arab man the sentence on Thursday, as per Emarat Al Youm.
He had allegedly demanded the bribe to discharge his normal duties.
The Court of First Instance had originally handed him a Dh5,000 fine, six months in jail, and deportation after serving the term.
The supreme court affirmed the employee's guilt, but lessened the punishment after he appealed the ruling.
